Afterimage

About This Piece

Afterimage began with a pull towards a black ground—the way colour can become more alive when it has darkness to emerge from. I started with a loose vision in mind, allowing bright layers, texture and copper leaf to find their own rhythm across the canvas. As the work developed, I began experimenting with glow-in-the-dark colour, following a sense of curiosity and play. In daylight, the painting reveals its vivid, tactile surface; in the dark, hidden lettering appears, inviting the viewer to look again. That unexpected shift opened up a new sense of possibility for me and left me with even more desire to create.
